Linen and cotton-knit are the best fabrics for Bali's heat and humidity because they breathe, move moisture off the skin, and dry quickly. Aline My Label makes both by hand in Bali, in small runs, across tops, dresses, skirts, shorts, pants, sarongs and intimates. The pieces are designed for the climate they are made in.
Why do linen and cotton-knit suit Bali's heat and humidity?
Bali's dry season heat often sits around 30 to 34°C, and humidity makes heavy fabrics feel unbearable. Linen's fibres are large and garments often use more open weaves, which supports airflow and moisture-wicking. Cotton and linen are the best naturally breathable fabrics for humid weather. Loose, relaxed silhouettes in linen and cotton improve airflow and reduce stickiness. That is why our linen pieces, which include tops, dresses, shorts, pants and a set, and our cotton-knit pieces, which include tops, dresses, skirts and a resort set, are made to be worn here. What does Aline My Label make from each fabric?
Here is what we currently make, with the fabric each piece uses:
- Linen: tops, dresses, shorts, pants and a linen set (the Effortless Bali Set pairs a cotton-knit top with linen pants)
- Cotton knit: tops, dresses, skirts and a resort set
- TENCEL Modal: bralettes, briefs and thongs
- Cotton rayon: sarongs
The TENCEL Modal pieces move moisture off the skin faster than cotton and stay soft against it. Sarongs are a cotton rayon. Everything is designed and made in Bali, in small runs, by hand.
How do I choose the right size in linen and cotton-knit?
Clothing uses three sizes, XSS, ML and 2XL, on a different chart from the intimates (which run XS to 2XL), so you may be a different size in each. Pick by bust: up to 88cm is XSS, up to 96 is ML, up to 106 is 2XL. Above 106, ask us. Full rows, bust / waist / hips in cm: XSS 82-88 / 64-70 / 88-94; ML 89-96 / 71-78 / 95-102; 2XL 97-106 / 79-88 / 103-112. 2XL is on selected styles only; each product page shows what that piece has. Where can I see the clothes in person?
Yes, at four boutiques in Bali: Doo Moo Living in Amed, Kru Bali in Uluwatu, Alala Spa & Boutique in Amed, and Awakened Dreamers in Ubud and Canggu. What each of them has in stock varies, so it is worth messaging us before you make the trip. We do not have our own storefront. The pieces are sold here and through those four boutiques. If you are a shopkeeper, we also take wholesale and stockist enquiries. Tell us a little about your shop and we will come back to you. How do I wash and care for them?
Hand wash or machine wash, whichever you prefer. The one rule is no hot water, for the linen, the cotton knit, the sarongs and the TENCEL alike. Each product page lists the same under Care. If you are unsure about a particular piece, ask us.
Common questions
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Delivery is usually around 14 days, up to 21, once the order has shipped, and the cost is calculated at checkout. Any customs duties, taxes or import fees charged by your country are yours to pay, not ours.
Can I return something?
Yes, within 15 days of receiving it. We do not refund, but an accepted return is credited as store credit. The piece has to come back unwashed and unused, with its original tags and packaging, and you need the receipt or proof of purchase. Do you restock things that sell out?
Everything is made in small runs, so a piece may come back and may not. Tell us what you are after and we will let you know if it is being made again.
