Best Bali Pants for Hot Weather: Linen Pants and Shorts Compared

3 minute read

Linen pants and shorts for Bali heat compared: wide-leg linen for cafés and temples, linen shorts for the hottest hours. Handmade in Bali.

Hostas Wide-Leg Linen Resort Pants, handmade in Bali

The best pants for Bali's heat are loose and made from natural fibres that let air move and dry quickly. Ours are linen, cut with a wide leg so the fabric sits away from your skin. Below is how they compare, so you can pick the right pair for how you spend your day.

What fabric works best for Bali's humidity?

Bali stays warm all year, around 26°C to 32°C, with a rainy season from November to March. Natural fibres are the practical choice because they take up moisture and let air through. For pants, linen is the one we use:

  • Linen is light, dries quickly and feels cool against the skin, even in full sun. It creases, and that is part of its character.
  • Cotton knit, which we use for dresses, tops and skirts, is softer with more give, but we do not make it as pants.
  • TENCEL Modal is what our intimates are made from. It is not an outerwear fabric in our range.

Which pants and shorts do we make?

| Style | Fabric | Cut | Good for | |-------|--------|-----|----------| | Lily Linen Pants | Linen | Wide leg | Cafés, markets, evenings out | | Hostas Wide-Leg Linen Resort Pants | Linen | Wide leg | Beach days, travel, resort wear | | Aloysia, Cidora and Savory linen shorts | Linen | Short | The hottest part of the day |

Both pants are cut with a wide leg so air moves around your legs. None of them are tight or fitted: in hot weather you want the fabric off your skin.

Pants or shorts?

Think about where you are going. Linen shorts are the coolest option for the middle of the day, the beach and walking in the sun. Wide-leg linen pants cover more, which helps with sun on your legs, with temple visits where legs should be covered, and with cooler evenings and air-conditioned cafés.

If you are packing for Bali, one pair of linen pants and one pair of linen shorts cover most days. Linen creases, but the creases soften after a few minutes of wear, and many people like the relaxed look.

Common questions

Can I wear linen pants for yoga?

For gentle movement like yoga or stretching, loose linen pants work well. Linen does not stretch, so it is not made for high-intensity exercise.

How do I wash linen pants?

Hand wash or machine wash, whichever you prefer. The one rule is no hot water. Hang to dry. Linen softens with each wash. Each product page lists the same care instructions.

Do you make harem pants or Buddha pants?

No. Our linen pants are wide-leg and loose, closer to a palazzo cut. They are not gathered at the ankle or crotch.

What size should I take if my bust is 90cm?

Clothing is sized by the chart on our size guide. A 90cm bust falls into size ML (89 to 96cm); check your waist and hips on the same chart too. Intimates use a different chart. If you are between sizes, send us your measurements and we will tell you which to take.

Do you ship to Australia?

Yes, we ship to selected countries, including Australia. Delivery is usually around 14 days, up to 21, once the order has shipped. The cost is calculated at checkout, and any customs duties or taxes are yours to pay. See our shipping policy for details.
